Forest Energy is an original sculptural mixed-media artwork inspired by my fascination with the textures, colours and natural forms found in the woodland environment.

I wanted to capture something of the energy and variety of nature in this piece, particularly the contrast between different surfaces, colours and organic shapes. The deep greens create a rich, textured background, while the warm copper and bronze tones, earthy browns and soft ivory details bring warmth and definition to the composition.

I particularly enjoyed working with these contrasts. The combination of rough and smooth surfaces, delicate botanical details and more pronounced sculptural forms gives the artwork a sense of movement. My intention was to create a composition that feels natural and organic, rather than arranged or overly structured, allowing the eye to travel through the different elements and discover new details.

The artwork is created using hand-sculpted clay and carefully selected botanical elements, with each detail individually shaped and positioned. I wanted to retain a strong connection to natural materials while giving them a different dimension through texture, layering and colour.

The finished piece is presented in a custom-made frame, professionally finished and carefully chosen to complement the earthy colours and overall character of the artwork. High-quality materials and considered framing complete the presentation.

For me, Forest Energy is about celebrating the variety, texture and natural character of the world around us, and finding new ways to bring those qualities into an original piece of contemporary mixed-media art.
